Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for belly dump truck operations
- Access, interpret and apply conducting belly dump truck operations documentation
- Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- Identify hazards and environmental issues, assess the risk and implement control measures in line with workplace policies
- Select and wear personal protective equipment required for work activities
- Access, interpret and apply required geological and survey data in accordance with workplace requirements and safe work practices
- Coordinate and communicate planned activities with others at the site prior to commencement of work activity
- Operate belly dump truck in line with established requirements
- Carry out prestart and start-up checks in line with workplace procedures
- Identify faults or defects and rectify or report within scope of own responsibility and according to workplace procedures
- Drive and operate belly dump truck using techniques suited to equipment capabilities, site and work conditions, and according to workplace procedures
- Monitor and manage equipment performance using indicators and alarms in line with manufacturers’ specifications
- Monitor hazards and risks during operations, and ensure safety to self, others, plant and equipment
- Load, haul and dump materials
- Position belly dump truck under loading unit and load vehicle
- Carry out approved haulage operations in a safe manner
- Control gate opening and vehicle speed to create even spread of material when dumping
- Park up, shut down, secure and carry out post operational inspection of equipment in line with workplace procedures
- Conduct housekeeping activities
